Seeds Set for 2017 ACC Women’s Soccer Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke holds the top seed for the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, which gets underway on Sunday, Oct. 29, with quarterfinal matches at four campus sites.
 
The Blue Devils   (17-1-0, 10-0-0 ACC) will play host to eighth-seeded Boston College (10-8-1, 4-5-1 ACC) in quarterfinal action Sunday. Duke earned its third outright regular season title and first since 2011 following a 1-0 win at Virginia on Thursday. Duke is the first team since Virginia in 2013 to complete the ACC regular season unbeaten and untied.
 
Other Sunday matchups include No. 2 seed North Carolina (12-2-2, 8-0-2 ACC) hosting No. 7 Florida State (11-5-1, 5-4-1 ACC), No. 3  NC State (13-4-1, 6-3-1 ACC) at home against No. 6 Notre Dame (9-5-4, 5-3-2 ACC), and No. 4 Virginia (10-4-4, 5-2-3 ACC), playing host to No. 5 Wake Forest (11-4-3, 5-3-2 ACC).
 
All of Sunday’s quarterfinal matches will kick off at 1 p.m. The winners advance to MUSC Health Stadium at Charleston, South Carolina, for semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The championship game will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
 
As has been the norm in recent years, the 2017 ACC Women’s Soccer Championship is packed with elite teams. Six of the eight teams in this year’s tournament field are ranked in both the United Soccer Coaches and Soccer America polls. 
 
ACC Network Extra will carry the quarterfinals on Sunday. The ACC’s Regional Sports Networks will air the semifinals and the ACC title game will be televised on ESPNU.
