GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke senior forward Taylor Racioppi has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while NC State senior goalkeeper Sydney Wootten is this week’s ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Racioppi scored the game winner in the 77th minute in Saturday's match at RV/24 Clemson as she connected on a strike from 24 yards out giving the Blue Devils their third straight win. From there, Duke dominated possession, not allowing Clemson a quality chance to equalize, and securing the Blue Devils first win at Clemson since the 2011 season. Her goal was named the No. 8 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 countdown that evening.
Wootten shined in NC State’s 1-1 double-overtime draw at No. 13/16 Florida State as she made a career-high 16 saves. The Seminoles peppered the goal with 16 shots in the first half, 14 in the second and seven through the two overtimes. Her 16 saves are an individual conference high this season and the most by an individual since the 2014 season.
ACC play continues this week with seven league matches on Thursday and another seven on Sunday.
