GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College sophomore midfielder Sam Coffey has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate graduate senior goalkeeper Alexis Bryant and Clemson junior goalkeeper Sandy MacIver share ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Coffey continues to put up impressive numbers as she scored four goals while leading Boston College to two ACC wins last weekend over RV/20 Virginia Tech (3-0) and No. 23/- NC State (2-0). Coffey record her first career hat trick in the win over the Hokies on Thursday and followed up with the game-winner against the Wolfpack on Sunday. Coffey owns an ACC-leading 29 points on nine goals and 11 assists, and has tallied a point in 11 games this season.
MacIver earned a pair of shutout road wins at No. 10 Florida State (1-0) and at Pitt (2-0) last week. She registered a season-high six saves in the Tigers’ upset of the Seminoles while keeping Florida State, which entered the game averaging 2.25 goals per game, scoreless for the just the third time this season. MacIver owns six shutouts this season, including three in ACC play.
Bryant had another strong week in goal for the Eagles as she earned shutouts over the Hokies and Wolfpack. She totaled four saves, three against NC State, including Ricci Walkling’s penalty kick attempt in the 86
th minute to keep NC State off the board. This is Bryant’s second ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
ACC play continues this weekend with seven league matches.
