CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond announced today that Alison Foley has resigned from her position as head coach of the Boston College women's soccer program to pursue other opportunities. Foley just completed her 22nd season at the Heights and leaves as the school's all-time leader in victories (280).

"Alison has put together an outstanding career in leading our women's soccer program and we appreciate all of her hard work to help elevate our program," said Jarmond. "We wish her and her family well in all of their future endeavors."

BC finished the 2018 season 14-5-1 overall and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time under Foley, losing to Hofstra in the first round.

The Eagles started the year by winning 10 consecutive games, the longest winning streak to start a season in school history and tied the program record for consecutive wins in a season. The only other BC squad to win 10 straight was the 1983 team.

Among the 10 straight victories to open the season was a 2-1 victory over eventual national champion Florida State.

"It was an honor to coach so many terrific student-athletes during my tenure at Boston College," said Foley. "I am proud of what we have accomplished and I look forward to new opportunities in the future."

Foley led BC to 15 NCAA berths, including 11 consecutive. Under her watch, the team has been to eight Sweet 16s, three Elite Eights and the 2010 College Cup. She finishes her BC career with an overall record of 280-145-39.

Sammy Boateng will serve as the program's interim head coach until a new coach is named. A national search will begin immediately for Foley's replacement.

"Women's soccer is a sport where we compete annually for championships, and that is a credit to Alison, her staff and the talented student-athletes to come through the program," said Jarmond.
