GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina sophomore center Janelle Bailey has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Duke freshman guard Miela Goodchild is the ACC Rookie of the Week announced Monday by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel. 
 
Bailey tied a career-high with 30 points and added 14 rebounds in North Carolina's 85-63 win over Howard on Friday for her eighth double-double of the season. She made 11-of-19 shots from the floor and added three assists. Bailey dominated the second quarter for the Heels, scoring 11 of her 15 first-half points to stake Carolina to a 38-31 lead at intermission. This is Bailey's first ACC Player of the Week honor of the season after earning ACC Rookie of the Week seven times during the 2017-18 season.


 
Goodchild averaged 17.0 points, 2.5 steals, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in leading Duke to victories over East Carolina (83-66) and Florida Gulf Coast (57-41).  Goodchild collected a career-high 19 points, matched a career with four steals, three assists and four rebounds against East Carolina.  She drained 4-of-7 treys and 5-of-8 field goals in the win.  On Sunday, she added 15 points, one assist and one steal in 35 minutes against FGCU.  She hit 3-of-5 three-pointers and hit 5-of-8 field goals. Goodchild leads Duke with 26 three-pointers on the year.
 
The ACC begins conference play on Thursday, Jan. 3 with seven games.
