Asia Durr Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville junior guard Asia Durr has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Syracuse freshman forward Digna Strautmane is this week’s ACC Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel. 
 
Durr earned her fourth ACC Player of the Week honor of the season after averaging 24.0 points per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range in road wins at Virginia and Syracuse. Against the Cavaliers, she finished with 21 points on 9-18 shooting and followed with 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting, 5-of-9 from distance, while adding a career-high seven assists at Syracuse. In the win over the Orange, she also eclipsed the 1,500-point plateau for her career.
 
Strautmane had a pair of 20-point games and averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds against Virginia and No. 4 Louisville. She led the Orange in scoring in both games, first with 20 points against the Hokies and then 22 points against the Cardinals. The rookie from Riga, Latvia, has scored in double figures in five straight games and ranks fourth among all ACC freshmen with 10.4 points per game. This is her second straight and third overall ACC Rookie of the Week honor.
 
Five ACC teams are ranked in this week’s AP Top 25, including No. 4 Louisville, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 12 Florida State, No. 19 Duke and No. 23 NC State.
 
Conference play continues on Wednesday, Feb. 7 with three games.
