Five Student-Athletes Chosen To Fill ACC Futures Internship Positions

Participants will work with ACC, Orange Bowl Committee and FOX Sports
 

GREENSBORO, N.C.  (theACC.com)– Five student-athletes have been chosen to fill positions during the 2018-19 academic year as part of the annual Atlantic Coast Conference Futures Internship Program.
 
This year’s selections and job assignments include the following representatives from Boston College, Miami, Pitt and Wake Forest:
 
ACC Championships – Laura Mazziotta (Boston College Rowing): A native of Bethesda, Maryland, Mazziotta was named an Eagles team co-captain for her senior season and is a repeat recipient of Boston College’s Athletics Director’s Award for Academic Achievement.
 
FOX Sports Florida Marketing – Claire Orzel (Boston College Rowing): Orzel joins Marzziotta as a team co-captain and hails from Newark, Delaware. She is another Athletics Director’s Award for Academic Achievement multi-honoree.
 
FOX Sports Florida Productions – Wally Layland (Miami Diving): Layland, who came to Miami from Orlando, Florida, earned Honorable Mention All-America recognition at the 2018 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships and is a 2018 ACC Postgraduate Scholar.
 
Orange Bowl Committee – Meme Sharp (Pitt Diving): A native of Noblesville, Indiana, and an ACC Postgraduate Scholar, Sharp finished her collegiate career as the most decorated diver in school history.

FOX Sports South Productions – Karlee Spirit (Wake Forest Field Hockey): Spirit served as a team captain for the Demon Deacons’ 2017 NCAA Tournament squad. The Voorhees, New Jersey, native played in all 20 matches for Wake Forest.
 
Funded by the ACC and its partners, the Futures Internship Program began in 1995 and has been highly successful in placing its participants into permanent positions within the athletics and sports television industry.
