GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson’s Seth Beer has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Georgia Tech’s Xzavion Curry was selected as Pitcher of the Week.
                                                                     
ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. This is the second ACC Player of the Week award for Beer this season and third of his career. It is the first ACC weekly honor of Curry’s career.
 
Beer went 8-for-13 (.615) with four homers, 12 RBI, seven runs, a 1.538 slugging percentage, four walks against one strikeout and a .667 on-base percentage to lead Clemson to a perfect 4-0 week. The junior first baseman and outfielder from Suwanee, Georgia, hit a home run in each of the four games, including a three-game sweep of Boston College. On the year, he is batting .284 with 27 runs, three doubles, 10 home runs, 24 RBI, a .441 on-base percentage and a steal in 28 games.
 
Curry improved to an ACC-best 6-0 on the season with a 6-1 win over Miami on Friday night. The sophomore from Atlanta, Georgia, struck out a career-high 12 batters in 8.0 innings, allowing just one run, one walk, and six singles in his fourth quality start of the season. The win was the first win of the Jackets’ sweep of the Canes, their first sweep at home over Miami since 1967. Curry’s 12 strikeouts were the most by a Georgia Tech pitcher since Buck Farmer fanned 14 batters in the Opening Day win over Akron on Feb. 15, 2013.
