GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest junior midfielder Bruno Lapa has been named this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Colin Shutler is this week’s ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Lapa totaled five points on one goal and three assists for the week as the Demon Deacons began the season 2-0 following wins over No. 2 Indiana, 2-1, in double overtime, and the 2017 Southern Conference Champion ETSU, 4-2. He found teammate Kyle Holcomb for the game-winning goal against the Hoosiers, and factored in three of the four Wake Forest goals in the win over Buccaneers, including the game winner.
Shutler produced his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over No. 19 New Hampshire. He made two saves, including a stop on a breakaway in the 75th minute. The start in goal was the first of his career, having played only 10 minutes last season.
ACC men’s soccer teams are in action all week, highlighted by a slate of eight games on Friday, Aug. 31.
