GREENSBORO, N.C. (The ACC.com) – North Carolina’s Catherine Hayden and Duke’s Rose Tynan have been named ACC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Boston College goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Hayden had three goals and an assist in leading the second-ranked Tar Heels to a pair of wins this past weekend, including an ACC road win at Louisville. In the league opener against the 11th-ranked Cardinals, Hayden had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win. Two days later, the Greenwich, Connecticut, junior had two goals in a 6-0 win over California.
Tynan had three goals and an assist as the fourth-ranked Blue Devils split a pair of top-10 matchups over the weekend. The Auckland, New Zealand, senior has a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss to No. 6 Princeton and then matched her career high with two goals in Sunday’s convincing 4-1 win over No. 5 Penn State.
Dwyer had seven saves on nine shots Sunday afternoon as the 13th-ranked Eagles posted their second-straight weekend win against a ranked foe, beating No. 25 Albany 1-0. Two days earlier, Boston College opened league play with a 4-3 win over No. 18 Wake Forest in double overtime.
