Grashoff, Hoffman, Dwyer earn ACC Field Hockey Players of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (The ACC.com) – Wake Forest forward Jule Grashoff has been named ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while North Carolina back Ashley Hoffman and Boston College goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer have been selected as Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Grashoff had a huge weekend as the Deacons ran their win streak to four in a row with wins over No. 7 Louisville and Richmond. In Friday’s 4-2 win over the Cardinals, the Bremen, Germany, senior notched her second career hat trick scoring two equalizers on penalty corners and adding her third goal of the night in the 68th minute to extend Wake’s lead to 4-2. In Sunday’s 4-0 win over Richmond, Grashoff tallied another goal and finished the weekend with four goals and eight points.

Hoffman, the team captain, anchored a Tar Heel defensive effort to shut out fourth-ranked Duke 2-0 on the Blue Devils’ home field Friday. North Carolina has five shutouts in eight games this season and has yielded but three goals. The Mohnton, Pennsylvania, senior also shares the team lead in scoring with seven goals this fall.

Dwyer had a key shutout on the weekend as Boston College posted wins over No. 10 Virginia and New Hampshire. The West Long Branch, New Jersey, junior faced six shots and made three saves in Friday’s 2-0 win over the visiting Cavaliers. Dwyer has now posted three shutouts in her last seven games.
