GREENSBORO, N.C. (The ACC.com) – Duke’s Olivia Sahaydak has been named ACC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while North Carolina’s Ashley Hoffman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Sahaydak turned in the first multiple-goal game of her career with two goals in Friday’s 4-0 shutout of 12th-ranked Northwestern in the B1G/ACC Cup. The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, native scored the most goals (three) of any freshman at the four-team tournament and now leads the Blue Devils with four on the season.
Hoffman keyed a defensive effort as the Tar Heels earned two wins over the weekend. Playing in the Conference Crossover in Philadelphia, North Carolina beat No. 10 Princeton 1-0 on Friday and host Penn 8-0 on Sunday. The Mohnton, Pennsylvania, senior also contributed on the offensive end, scoring the Tar Heels’ first two goals of the win over Penn, both on penalty corners.
