GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) –Syracuse junior guard Tiana Mangakahia has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Boston College freshman guard Makayla Dickens and Georgia Tech freshman forward Elizabeth Dixon share ACC Rookie of the Week honors announced Monday by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
Mangakahia repeats as ACC Player of the Week after recording the first points-rebounds-assists triple-double in program history with a season-high 34 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Syracuse’s 90-77 win over North Carolina on Sunday. It was the first triple-double in ACC play since former Louisville guard Mariya Moore registered 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Syracuse on Dec. 29, 2016, and just the 29th overall in ACC women’s basketball history.
Mangakahia shot 55 percent from the floor, including a 66 percent clip from long range.
Dickens had a solid week at the point for Boston College helping the Eagles to a pair of ACC road wins over Wake Forest (65-64) and Pitt (59-55). The Virginia Beach, Virginia, native scored a double-double – 11 points and 16 rebounds in the Eagles win against the Demon Deacons, which included a key offensive board in the final seconds to seal the victory. Against Pitt, Dickens contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Georgia Tech’s Dixon put together a solid week, averaging 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Yellow Jackets. She began the week with a career-night against Duke to help the Jackets take home a 70-64 win last Thursday. Dixon scored a career-best 22 points to go along with a personal-high 17 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. She also added career-highs of four blocks and four assists. Dixon followed that performance with six rebounds and three points at No. 2 Louisville.
