Florida State’s Castellanos, Virginia’s Ivory Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State senior midfielder Deyna Castellanos has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia junior goalkeeper Laurel Ivory has been tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Castellanos recorded two goals and an assist over the weekend, as sixth-ranked Florida State went 2-0 with road wins at No. 9 Clemson and Syracuse. Against the Tigers, she assisted on the Seminoles’ first goal in the 11th minute and then scored the game-winning goal in the 17th minute for the Noles’ first top-10 win this season and third victory against a ranked opponent.

The Maracay, Venezuela, native scored the game's lone goal against Syracuse, as she tallied seven shots. Castellanos is currently third all-time at FSU with 43 career goals and 105 points.

Ivory helped the top-ranked Cavaliers remain undefeated on the season with a pair of shutouts against nationally-ranked teams. She made a pair of second-half saves in the 2-0 victory against No. 16 Virginia Tech to hand the Hokies their first loss of the season.

Hailing from Surfside, Florida, Ivory also logged a shutout in a scoreless draw with No. 10 Duke. She charted four saves on Duke's four shots on goal, including stopping a breakaway one-on-one situation in the first overtime period and two in the second overtime period to preserve the shutout.

ACC women’s soccer action resumes Thursday night with Wake Forest traveling to No. 22 Louisville for a 7 p.m. match that will air live on ACC Network.
