Raposo, Dumas Claim ACC Men’s Soccer Player of Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Syracuse senior forward Ryan Raposo has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Notre Dame graduate defender Felicien Dumas has been picked as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Raposo scored his first career hat trick as Syracuse rallied from a two-goal deficit in the second half to pull out a 4-3 win Saturday at No. 18 North Carolina. A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Raposo recorded the first hat trick by any ACC player in a conference match since Oct. 13, 2017 (Notre Dame’s Jon Gallagher at Boston College). It marked the first hat trick in an ACC match by a Syracuse player since Ben Polk registered three goals against Pitt on Sept. 25, 2015.

Raposo scored less than a minute into the game against UNC, then scored again in the 71st minute to pull Syracuse within 3-2. His third goal of the day in the 88th minute proved to be the game winner and gave Syracuse its first ACC win of the season.

Dumas played a key role in a pair of Notre Dame shutout victories last week, as the Fighting Irish prevailed over No. 21 Duke and Purdue Fort Wayne. The Irish were just the second team to record a clean sheet against the high-powered Duke attack this season and the first to accomplish the feat in ACC play. A native of Tokyo, Japan, Dumas and the Notre Dame backline limited the Blue Devils to just one shot on target over the 90 minutes of play in a 1-0 win on Friday as the Irish notched their first ACC win of the season. In the Tuesday win over Purdue Fort Wayne, he recorded an assist and helped the Irish record a clean sheet. Dumas is the active leader on the team in career assists with 17.

Three weeks of ACC regular-season play remain. The schedule this week begins Tuesday with seven non-conference games, including a top-20 matchup as top-ranked Virginia plays host to No. 16 James Madison in a 7 p.m. game that will air on ACC Network. League play resumes Friday, including a big matchup at 6 p.m. Friday as No. 18 North Carolina plays at No. 6 Wake Forest. That contest also will be broadcast on ACC Network. No. 21 Duke entertains No. 20 NC State Friday in another top-25 clash of ACC teams.
