Duke’s Pluck, Virginia’s Ivory Earn WSOC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke sophomore forward Mackenzie Pluck has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia junior goalkeeper Laurel Ivory has been tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Pluck posted an impressive outing in the matchup against ninth-ranked Clemson on Sunday to give the Blue Devils their first top-10 win of the season. She ended the game with a career-high five points, recording two goals and an assist. The North Wales, Pennsylvania, native registered her second career multi-goal performance, as she netted the brace against the Tigers to lift Duke to a 4-1 victory.

On the season, Pluck ranks second on the team in both goals (7) and assists (5), while leading the squad in points with 19.

Ivory charted a pair of shutouts on the road with a scoreless draw at NC State and a 1-0 victory at No. 5 Florida State. It marked the first time the Seminoles’ high-powered offense was held scoreless this season and the first shutout of Florida State in 23 consecutive matches dating back to 2018.

Hailing from Surfside, Florida, Ivory faced a career-high tying 14 shots from the Seminoles and posted four saves on all four shots on goal. It was her fifth consecutive shutout in ACC play and ninth clean sheet of the season. Ivory has now played 527 minutes since the last goal she allowed and has only yielded one goal in ACC play this season, which was scored on a penalty kick.

ACC women’s soccer action returns Thursday night with third-ranked North Carolina traveling to Boston College for a 7 p.m. match that will air live on ACC Network.
