GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Clemson junior forward Robbie Robinson has been tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Wake Forest sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg has been selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. It marks Pannenberg’s second ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season (Sept. 16).
Robinson scored his second hat trick of the season in Clemson's 7-4 victory at Syracuse Saturday night. He became the first Clemson player since 1998 to record multiple hat tricks in a season. He scored three goals off four shots on goal and also contributed an assist on Clemson's sixth goal as he recorded seven points in the match. He now ranks second in the ACC with 12 goals this season.
Pannenberg anchored a Wake Forest back line which recorded a pair of shutout victories last week, 5-0 over William & Mary and 1-0 over No. 19 North Carolina. He made three saves against William & Mary and earned the solo shutout against UNC as the Demon Deacons held the Tar Heels without a shot on goal. He now owns seven solo shutouts while the team has eight total clean sheets.
The ACC regular season is down to its final two weeks. The schedule this week begins Tuesday with a busy evening of nine non-conference games, including a rivalry match between Notre Dame and Michigan that will air at 7 p.m. on ACC Network. The penultimate weekend of league play kicks off Friday with four matches: Louisville-North Carolina (on ACCN), Virginia-Virginia Tech, Boston College-Clemson and Duke-Pitt. On Saturday, Notre Dame plays at Wake Forest and NC State travels to Syracuse.
