Dike, Robinson, Turnbull Earn ACC Men’s Soccer Player of Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Virginia sophomore forward Daryl Dike and Clemson junior forward Robbie Robinson have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Notre Dame senior goalkeeper Duncan Turnbull has been selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. The ACC’s leader in scoring, Robinson was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Dike scored three goals in two victories last week for No. 6 Virginia. Against Saint Louis on Tuesday, he registered his second multi-goal game of his career with the game-winner in the 15th minute. Dike added a second goal later in the contest for his fifth goal of the year and his second career brace. On Friday at No. 25 Virginia Tech, he scored the game's second goal in a 2-0 victory. Although not falling under the qualifications of an assist, Dike also sent a cross-field pass to Nathaniel Crofts, setting up the game-winner in the 33rd minute. The goal was featured on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.

Robinson contributed two goals and three assists in two matches last week, as Clemson ran its unbeaten streak to six matches. He scored a goal and added three assists in a win over Radford, then scored a goal in the Tigers’ 3-1 victory Friday against Boston College as he extended his streak of goals scored to four straight matches. He now leads the ACC with 14 goals this season and is second with eight assists.

Turnbull made five saves on Saturday to help Notre Dame keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 road win over No. 2 Wake Forest, including a diving stop in the second half to deny Bruno Lapa. Turnbull is the first ACC goalkeeper to record a clean sheet against the Demon Deacons in a match this season. The Fighting Irish became the first team to defeat Wake Forest in a regular-season conference match at Spry Stadium since Notre Dame did so in 2013. Turnbull also did not allow a goal in the run of play in the match Tuesday against Michigan, as the Wolverines' lone goal came off a penalty kick.

The regular season concludes Friday. After four non-conference matches Tuesday, all 12 ACC teams will be in action in division games on Friday night. The evening begins at 6 p.m. as Louisville entertains No. 2 Wake Forest in a match that will air on ACC Network. No. 3 Clemson travels to No. 23 NC State at 7 p.m., and with a win, the Tigers will secure the Atlantic Division title. No. 6 Virginia entertains No. 21 North Carolina at 7 p.m.; the Cavaliers can win the Coastal Division crown with a win or a tie. The other ACC matchups at 7 p.m. Friday: No. 25 Virginia Tech at Duke, Pitt at Notre Dame and Syracuse at Boston College.
