UNC’s Andrzejewski, VT’s McGlynn Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior forward Bridgette Andrzejewski has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia Tech senior goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn has been tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Andrzejewski scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute as No. 3 North Carolina defeated No. 8 Clemson 1-0 last Sunday. The Lutherville, Maryland, native tallied the goal on a diving header off an assist by Lotte Wubben-Moy.

It was Andrzejewski's fifth goal of the season and third game-winning goal, including the game-winner in two straight ACC games (previous Sunday against Notre Dame). She ranks second on the UNC team in points with 15, third in goals with five and tied for second in assists with five.

McGlynn used a seven-save performance to hold No. 10 Duke scoreless for 110 minutes and help the Hokies to a 0-0 draw. Four of her seven saves came in the second overtime period as the Blue Devils posted five of their 15 shots in the final 10 minutes. Duke also took two of its three corners in the final stanza as well.

It was McGlynn's eighth shutout of the season and the 30th of her career, breaking the school record she shared with Dayle Colpitts (2010-13) entering the match.

ACC women’s soccer action resumes Wednesday night at 7 p.m., as the top-ranked Virginia Cavaliers travel to Raleigh to battle NC State.
