GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Wake Forest freshman forward Calvin Harris has been tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Notre Dame graduate defender Felicien Dumas has claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors following the final week of the regular season. It marks Dumas’ second ACC Defensive Player of the Week award this season (Oct. 14).
Harris scored Wake Forest’s first two goals in a 3-1 road victory over No. 25 Louisville on Friday night, with both scores in the opening 25 minutes as he recorded his second brace of the season. He now has scored three game-winning goals this season. Harris ranks second on the team in both goals (six) and game-winners (three).
Dumas made an impact both on defense and on the attack for the Fighting Irish in the team’s 1-0 home win over Pitt to close out the regular season. Dumas played a perfectly weighted through ball forward to Jack Lynn, who scored the only goal of the match. He also played a key role in the Irish defense to keep the clean sheet. Dumas leads the Irish with four assists on the season and is second on the squad in goals (3) and points (10).
The ACC Championship opens Tuesday with a pair of first-round matches, as No. 9 seed Boston College plays at No. 8 seed Notre Dame at 2 p.m. and No. 10 seed Syracuse travels to No. 7 seed North Carolina at 4 p.m. On Wednesday, No. 12 seed Duke makes the short trek to No. 5 seed NC State for a 2 p.m. match and No. 11 seed Virginia Tech visits No. 6 Louisville at 4 p.m.
The BC-Notre Dame winner advances to play top-seeded Clemson at 7 p.m. Sunday. The winner of the Syracuse-North Carolina clash moves on to face Virginia at 1 p.m. Sunday. The Duke-NC State winner advances to take on Pitt at 3 p.m. Sunday. The winner of the Virginia Tech-Louisville match moves on to battle Wake Forest at 5 p.m. Sunday.
