GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson junior guard Kendall Spray has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Florida State’s River Baldwin is the ACC Freshman of the Week.
ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.
Spray led the Tigers to a 71-55 win at Notre Dame on Sunday, as Clemson snapped Notre Dame’s 58-game ACC home winning streak and became the first league team to beat the Fighting Irish on their home floor.
The Mount Juliet, Tennessee, native scored a season-high 24 points, connecting on eight 3-pointers to tie the Clemson single-game record for 3-point field goals in a game. Her eight threes are the most by an ACC player in a game this season.
Baldwin helped the Seminoles remain unbeaten and record the best start in program history at 13-0, as Florida State defeated Virginia Tech 86-62 on Sunday. She scored 10 points to go along with nine rebounds, finishing one shy of notching her second double-double.
An Andalusia, Alabama, native, Baldwin also tied a career-high three blocks in the game and has recorded double figures in scoring on five occasions this season.
ACC women’s basketball action returns on Thursday, January 2, with a full slate of conference games, including an ACC Network doubleheader as Duke hosts Wake Forest at 6 p.m. and Syracuse welcomes No. 8 Florida State at 8 p.m.
