Miami’s Mompremier, Georgia Tech’s Dixon recognized
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami redshirt junior forward Beatrice Mompremier has been named the ACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Georgia Tech forward Elizabeth Dixon is the ACC Freshman of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
Mompremier averaged 20.5 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Hurricanes that included an upset of No. 4 Notre Dame. She had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the 72-65 win over the Fighting Irish in addition to aiding a Miami defense that limited Notre Dame to its lowest point total and field goal percentage of the season
The Miami native then led all players in points (23) and rebounds (13) in the Hurricanes' road victory at Pittsburgh. In addition to amassing her 18th and 19th double-doubles of the season, Mompremier closed out the week by tallying her fifth 20-point game.
Dixon led the Yellow Jackets offensively in a 2-0 week, averaging 21.5 points per game. The freshman opened the week pouring in a game-high 21 points in Tech’s win over Pitt last Thursday, connecting on a career-high 9-of-10 free throws. Dixon was one point shy of matching her career-high against Pitt with 21 points.
The Memphis native followed that performance matching her personal-best in scoring, dropping another game-high 22 points at Wake Forest. Dixon was nearly perfect from the floor, going 7-for-10 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free- throw line. For the week, Dixon led Tech offensively (21.5 points per game) and from the free throw line, going 17-for-19 for an 89.5 percent efficiency. The two 20-plus outings marked the second and third for the season. Dixon owns 14 games scoring in double-figures and is third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game.
