GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami senior Emese Hof has been named the ACC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and NC State’s Elissa Cunane is the ACC Freshman of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office and voted upon by the Blue Ribbon Panel.
The ACC weekly honor is Hof’s first of the season, while Cunane was recognized as the ACC Freshman of the Week for the third time.
Hof, who was also named espnW's national player of the week, guided No. 20 Miami to the biggest regular season win in program history Sunday, a 79-73 decision on the road against second-ranked Louisville.
The Utrecht, Netherlands, native finished with a game-high 25 points, tying her season best. The total set a new top career mark in ACC play, as did her 10 made field goals and five assists, while her three steals matched her top number in league play.
Hof, who also pulled down a co-team-high seven rebounds, notched her team-leading ninth 20-point game of the season. She scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting in the second half alone.
Making her first collegiate start at No. 16 Syracuse, the Wolfpack’s Cunane responded with 22 and 12 rebounds points to help the No. 12 Wolfpack to a 77-73 victory at the Carrier Dome. The Summerfield, North Carolina freshman went 7-for-11 from the floor and knocked down here lone attempt from 3-point range.
Cunane also went 7-for-9 from the foul line and blocked one shot.
