2019 Men's Lacrosse All-ACC Academic Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. (TheACC.com) – Virginia senior Ryan Conrad has been named the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the All-ACC Academic Men’s Lacrosse Team announced Thursday.

Conrad captained the Cavaliers to the 2019 NCAA title after posting 31 goals and 18 assists (49 points) in 20 games while earning first-team All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). The 49 points are tied for No. 3 on UVA’s single-season list by a midfielder.

Majoring in commerce, Conrad was a Senior CLASS Award winner, was named MVP of the ACC Tournament, and tied for No. 4 on UVA's single-season points by a midfielder list (46).

All five of the league’s men’s lacrosse programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, led by Virginia and Syracuse with nine selections. Notre Dame had eight, followed by North Carolina with seven and Duke with six. Nine of the student-athletes on the team also earned USILA All-America honors in 2019.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
