GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech redshirt freshman forward Nicole Kozlova has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia junior goalkeeper Laurel Ivory has been tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Kozlova helped the 23rd-ranked Hokies remain unbeaten, as she scored three of Virginia Tech’s four goals, including two game-winners. She netted her second goal of the season in the 37th minute against Alabama, and the Hokies later added a second goal to win their third match over a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent this season.
With Tech trailing for the first time all year on Sunday versus Yale, the Toronto, Ontario, native scored the equalizer in the 65th minute and then tallied her first brace as a Hokie with the game winner just seven minutes before the end of regulation.
Kozlova became the first VT player with back-to-back game-winning goals since 2016.
Ivory helped direct a defensive effort that led fifth-ranked and undefeated Virginia to a pair of shutouts, highlighted by a 2-0 win against No. 15 Georgetown. She played the full 90 minutes in both matches and came up big for the Cavaliers with a save in the first half against the Hoyas, as they looked to knot the match at one.
The Surfside, Florida, native was stellar in goal versus Minnesota, as Virginia limited the Gophers to only one shot on goal with her direction. Ivory now has four solo shutouts this season and moved up to fourth all-time at UVA in shutouts (20) and fifth all-time in wins (33).
Following three weeks of play, eight ACC teams remain unbeaten and the league’s 14 teams have compiled a 63-11-5 overall record.
ACC women’s soccer returns Thursday night with 11 conference teams in action, including sixth-ranked Florida State against Colorado on ACC Network at 7 p.m.
