Notre Dame, Virginia Tech Receive Weekly ACC Softball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame outfielder Abby Sweet has been named the ACC Softball Player of the Week, and Virginia Tech’s Keely Rochard has been tabbed as the Pitcher of the Week.
 
Sweet had a strong showing this past week for the Fighting Irish, highlighted by a 7-3 win over No. 16 Arizona State. The junior from Newhall, California, went 10-for-20 (.500) at the plate, posting eight RBI, four doubles and a home run. Sweet had a .850 slugging percentage on the week and added four stolen bases.
 
Turning in a 3-0 week for the Hokies, Rochard threw two complete games in wins over Army and Bradley. The junior from Williamsburg, Virginia, only allowed one earned run in 18 innings of work, racking up 35 strikeouts and limiting opposing batters to a .143 average.
