CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes from five different institutions were tabbed as the first ACC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for the 2025 Outdoor Track & Field season. California and Miami had two honorees apiece, while Louisville, Syracuse and Virginia each had one.
Cal’s Johnny Goode was named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after posting the third-fastest 200-meter time in school history with his time of 20.71 seconds at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, California. After his second-place finish in the 200-meter, Goode also turned in a second-place finish in the 400-meter, clocking a 45.86 time, which is the fourth-fastest in the Golden Bears’ history.
Syracuse’s Iaunia Pointer was named the ACC Co-Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after posting a time of 23.28 in the 200-meter dash. Pointer broke a 24-year-old Syracuse record in her debut for the Orange and is tied for the fastest time in the ACC and ranks sixth nationally. She also contributed to Syracuse’s 4x100 meter relay team, which clocked a time of 46.03 seconds.
Alongside Pointer, Miami’s Alyssa Robinson was also tabbed as the ACC Co-Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 200-meter dash at the Hurricane Invitational with a time of 23.28 seconds. The Indianapolis, Indiana, native is tied for the fastest time in the ACC and ranks sixth nationally in the 200-meter.
Miami’s Devoux Deysel opened the season with a 76.52-meter throw in the javelin to earn ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors. His javelin mark is the best in the country by 1.4 meters and was just three-tenths of a meter shy of his own school record.
After shattering the Louisville discus throw record at the USF Alumni Invitational, Jayden Ulrich was named the ACC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The East Alton, Illinois, native leads the ACC and NCAA with a mark of 66.14 meters. The mark ranks fifth in collegiate history and eighth in American history. With the mark, Ulrich now owns each of the top 10 individual throws in Louisville history.
Cal’s Brandon Cheeks II was named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Freshman of the Week after a strong showing in both the high jump and long jump at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento, California. Cheeks won the high jump open section, posting a mark of 1.97 meters. The San Diego, California, native also won his long jump flight to advance to the final, finishing at 6.83 meters.
In her collegiate outdoor debut, Virginia’s Maya Rollins won the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 13.57 seconds at the Virginia Opener. She also recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. The Ann Arbor, Michigan, native also contributed to the Cavaliers’ 4x400-meter relay team.
