2025 ACC Men’s Golf Championship Set for Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the first time in conference history, the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship will be held in the Bluegrass State. The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky, will host the 71st edition of the championship, beginning Thursday, April 24, with stroke play and concluding with the match-play final on Monday, April 28.

Expanding to 15 teams for the first time in Championship history, the field will play three consecutive days of 18 holes beginning on Thursday with the top eight teams advancing to match play. The match-play quarterfinals will begin on Sunday, April 27, followed immediately by the semifinals for a 36-hole day. The match-play final is set for Monday, as both the semifinals and final will broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

The ACC boasts five teams in the top 25 of the latest Scoreboard rankings (April 22), led by Florida State at No. 9. North Carolina (No. 10) and Virginia (No. 11) round out the top 15, while Duke ranks No. 16 and Georgia Tech sits at No. 22. Louisville, Notre Dame, and SMU are also receiving votes.

Individually, the ACC has three of the top five players in the latest Scoreboard rankings, headlined by North Carolina’s David Ford who has posted a nation-best five tournament victories in 2024-25. Florida State’s Luke Clanton and Louisville’s Sebastian Moss rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, as each player has registered three wins this season.

Admission is free for all spectators at the 2025 ACC Men’s Golf Championship all five days. The tournament is not a ticketed event.

ACC Notes
  • The 15 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf teams will tee off at the 2025 ACC Men’s Golf Championship on Thursday, April 24, and will run through Monday, April 28, with the match-play final at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
     
  • With the additions of California, SMU and Stanford, the match-play format was revised to allow eight teams to advance, up from four in previous years.
     
  • The first round of the championship will start on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET, with both the second and third rounds on Friday and Saturday to start at 10 a.m. ET as well. The match play quarterfinals on Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET, with the semifinal set for later that day at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET. Sunday’s match-play final is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
     
  • North Carolina claimed the 2024 ACC Men’s Golf Championship a season ago, downing Florida State 3-1 in the match-play final at Charlotte Country Club. The Tar Heels received a standout performance from Austin Greaser, who won both of his matches during the semifinal and final to help seal the title.
     
  • After playing five playoff holes, Wake Forest’s Michael Brennan and Florida State’s Frederik Kjettrup were declared co-medalists at the 2024 ACC Men’s Golf Championship at Charlotte Country Club. Brennan became the first back-to-back individual champion since Louisville’s Robin Sciot-Siegrist won titles in 2015 and 2016. Kjettrup became the first Seminole to win medalist honors since John Pak in 2019.
     
  • Nine ACC teams earned bids to the 2024 NCAA Regionals, with seven – Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest – advancing to the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California. Duke’s Ethan Evans and NC State’s Nick Mathews advanced to Carlsbad as individuals.
     
  • Georgia Tech’s Hiroshi Tai won the individual title at the NCAA Championships, becoming the 11th ACC men’s golfer to win the individual title in conference history and the first since Clemson’s Turk Pettit took home the crown in 2021. Tai finished the four rounds at 3-under as he opened the tournament with a first-round 67, tying for the lowest round in stroke play.
     
  • Four ACC teams advanced to match play, making up half of the eight-team field. The ACC has sent eight teams to the match-play quarterfinals over the last two seasons, the most among all conferences. The next closest league has sent just three teams in the span. Florida State advanced to the national championship, but eventually fell to Auburn, 3-2.
     
  • In the latest edition of the Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll, released on April 11, six ACC teams are in the top 25, as North Carolina leads the way at No. 8. Florida State is No. 10, Virginia is No. 11, Duke is No. 16 and Georgia Tech is No. 22. Louisville, Notre Dame and SMU are receiving votes.
     
  • In the latest spring Scoreboard team rankings, five ACC teams are in the top 25 (April 22) – Florida State (No. 9), North Carolina (No. 10), Virginia (No. 11), Duke (No. 19), Louisville (No. 24) and Georgia Tech (No. 25). SMU (No. 30) is just outside the top 25.
     
  • Five ACC players are in the top 25 of the most recent Scoreboard individual rankings (April 22), headlined by North Carolina’s David Ford remaining at No. 1. Following Ford is Florida State’s Luke Clanton at No. 4, Louisville’s Sebastian Moss at No. 5, Virginia’s Ben James at No. 12 and Notre Dame’s Jacob Modleski at No. 24.
     
  • The Top 10 of the latest PGA TOUR U Rankings were announced on Wednesday, April 16, and North Carolina’s David Ford continues to hold the top spot. Louisville’s Sebastian Moss is No. 5, while SMU’s Enrique Dimayuga is No. 17, NC State’s Nick Mathews is No. 21, FSU’s Gray Albright is No. 22, North Carolina’s Maxwell Ford is No. 24 and Wake Forest’s Scotty Kennon is No. 25.
     
  • Luke Clanton (Florida State), David Ford (North Carolina), Ben James (Virginia) and Sebastian Moss (Louisville) were named to the first spring Watch List for the 2025 Haskins Award.
     
  • Three ACC standouts were named semifinalists for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird: Luke Clanton (Florida State), David Ford (North Carolina) and Ben James (Virginia).
     
  • Including the 2024 fall season, ACC teams have won 18 team titles and individuals have won 23 medalist honors. As a team, Florida State won three tournaments, while individually, North Carolina’s David Ford posted a nation-best five individual titles throughout the 2024-25 season.
