![]() Eighteen ACC Student-Athletes Named to Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Teams
June 12, 2008 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Eighteen Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country eams. University Division first-team selections on the men's side include Clemson's Sam Bryfczynski. (3.84, computer science), Florida State's Javier Garcia-Tunon (4,0, MBA), North Carolina's Ian Reynolds (3.68, political science) and Wake Forest's Phillip Warsaw (3.9, Mathematical economics). Second-team selections include Duke's Mark DellaVolpe (3.62, Economics), Georgia Tech's David Herren (3.33, biology, health systems), Virginia Tech's Matej Muza (3.71, geography) and Georgia Tech's Taylor Narewski (3.82, public policy). On the women's side, Maryland's Christina Smith (3.57, marketing) was named District 2 first-team, while Virginia Tech's Sherlenia Green (4.0, health and physical education) and Duke's Madie McKeever (3.86, biology) received first-team honors in District 3. Boston College's Mary Heitkamp (3.72, philosophy) was a second-team District 1 selection. Wake Forest's Jill Ahrens (3.45, accounting) and Caitlin Chrisman (3.42, business), Virginia Tech's Tasmin Fanning (3.44, human nutrition, foods and exercise, communications) and Kelly Phillips (4.0, biology), North Carolina's Morgan Stengal (3.95, business) and Florida State's Lydia Willemse (3.58, chemistry) were named second team for District 3.
