GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seven ACC student-athletes were named to the CRCA 2008 DI Pocock Rowing All-America teams, including three on the First Team. Virginia's Kelsie Chaudoin and Jennifer Cromwell, along with Clemson's Suzanne Van Fleet, earned First Team recognition. Virginia's Lauren Hutchins, Clemson's Jessica Leidecker, Miami's Laura Cordner and North Carolina's Elisabeth McIntee earned Second Team honors. Each of the seven student-athletes earned South Region First Team honors in late May.


Three Cavalier Rowers Earn All-America Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia rowers Kelsie Chaudoin (Germantown, Tenn.), Jennifer Cromwell (Bellevue, Wash.) and Lauren Hutchins (North Vancouver, Canada) were named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) 2008 Division I Pocock All-America Team, the organization announced Monday.

Cromwell and Chaudoin were named to the first team, while Hutchins earned second team honors.

Chaudoin, a team captain and member of the Varsity Eight boat that won the ACC and South/Central Regional Championship, completed her senior season in 2008. An All-ACC selection, she was also named to the CRCA's All-South Region first team.

Cromwell was the ACC's inaugural Freshman of the Year in 2007, and part of this year's Varsity Eight crew. Cromwell was named All-ACC and All-South Region.


Two Tiger Rowers Garner All-American Honors

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced on Monday that Clemson rowers Suzanne Van Fleet and Jessica Leidecker have been named to the Division 1 Pocock All-America Team. Van Fleet was named to the first-team, while Leidecker was a second-team selection. This award recognizes outstanding performances of individual rowers and coxswains at NCAA Division 1 institutions.
 

 

Van Fleet spent the entire season with the Varsity 8+ crew, which advanced to the NCAA Rowing Championships for the first time in school history. They were ranked as high as #12 in the nation during the season, which ties the school record for highest ranking. Van Fleet, a senior, was named to the All-Region team by the CRCA, as well as the All-ACC team this season.

Leidecker, a junior, spent the majority of the season stroking Varsity 8+ boat. In addition to being named second-team All-American, she was a first-team All -Region honoree, as well as an All-ACC selection.


Miami's Laura Cordner Garners All-American Honor

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - A week after earning an all-regional honor, University of Miami junior rower Laura Cordner has been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) 2008 Division I Pocock All-American Second Team. Cordner is one of 43 student-athletes recognized on either the first or second team for their outstanding performances this season at NCAA Division I institutions.

"We are all proud of Laura's accomplishments this year," head coach Robbie Tenenbaum said. "She is a true team player and this honor is just another indication of how important she is to our program. She makes everyone around her better with her leadership, hard work and relentless drive to succeed."


North Carolina's Elisabeth McIntee Earns Second Team All-America Honors
