Campos and Hill Named ACC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Diego Campos has been named ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Pitt’s Mauriq Hill was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week.

Campos tallied eight points to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 week. On Tuesday against Gardner-Webb, the senior forward from San Jose, Costa Rica, assisted on two goals. On Friday against No. 16 Duke, Campos posted a hat trick in a 4-1 win over the Blue Devils. He slipped a shot inside the far post from 12 yards out for his first goal at the 20-minute mark. Campos doubled the Tigers’ lead just six minutes later on a shot to the lower left corner from 15 yards out, and completed the hat trick in the 52nd minute. Campos is now tied with Jason Wright for a team-leading seven goals and tops the Tiger squad with eight assists, a mark that is also tied for second in the ACC.

A redshirt senior defender from Atlanta, Georgia, Hill played a crucial role on the back line in two wins for Pitt last week. On Tuesday, the Panthers held Penn State to four shots on goal to pick up their first win over the Nittany Lions since 1978. In a 1-0 win at No. 7 Notre Dame on Friday, Pitt limited the Irish to three shots on goal for the first win over Notre Dame since 2002 and the first win over a top-10 opponent since 2000.
