Senior guard scores 20 as Seminoles fend off Miami, 73-69

-- Imani Wright scored 20 points and No. 11 Florida State held off Miami’s late rally for a 73-69 victory on Friday night in the Atlantic Coast Conference quarterfinals.

The third-seeded Seminoles (25-5) have won seven of their last eight games, and will play fifth-ranked and second-seeded Notre Dame (28-2) in a Saturday semifinal.

Wright had 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the first half. Chatrice White finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for Florida State. Ama Degbeon and Shakayla Thomas chipped in 10 points apiece.

Emese Hof scored 21 points to lead sixth-seeded Miami (21-10). Mykea Gray added 15 points and Erykah Davenport had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Seminoles led 67-50 with five minutes left. A 19-5 run from Miami cut its deficit to 72-69 with 20 seconds remaining. Thomas then split a pair of free throws and following a Miami timeout, Hof missed a 3-pointer with five seconds left.

- Florida State senior shooting guard Imani Wright led the Seminoles with 20 points … Wright connected on three shots from beyond the arc and has now made 100 shots this season from 3-point range… Wright’s single-season total is the fourth-highest in league history and places her 29 behind the ACC single-season record of 129 set by Brianna Butler of Syracuse in 2016.
- Wright posted her 28th double-figure scoring game of the season and hit multiple 3-pointers for the 27th time … It marked her 11th game this season with 20-or-more points.
- With 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds, the Seminoles’ Chatrice White just missed her seventh double-double of the season.
- Center Emese Hof led Miami with 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor … The 21 points matched her season high.
- Freshman guard Mykea Gray chipped in 15 points for the Hurricanes, and Erykah Davenport logged her 13th career double-double (11th this season) with 10 points and 11 boards.
- Friday night marked the fifth time in six years that Florida State and Miami have met in the ACC Tournament, with the Seminoles holding a 3-2 edge … The Hurricanes had won each of the previous two meetings, both of which came in the quarterfinal rounds.
