Three ACC teams (Duke, Notre Dame and Syracuse) are in action this weekend as the regular season comes to a close. The NCAA will unveil its 17-team Championship bracket on Sunday, May 6 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.

The ACC at a Glance 
• Four ACC teams are ranked in the USILA and Maverik Media polls this week – No. 4/5 Duke, No. 8/8 Notre Dame, No. 9/10 Virginia and No. 13/12 Syracuse. 

•  No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 5 Duke, No. 10 Virginia  and No. 12 Syracuse all rank in the top 12 of the latest Lax Power RPI.

• Notre Dame won the 2018 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship with wins over Duke (14-11) and Virginia (17-7). It was the Fighting Irish’s second ACC title and first since 2014.

• Notre Dame’s Bryan Costabile had six goals and two assists as Notre Dame defeated Duke and Virginia to win the ACC Championship and was named the Tournament MVP.

• Duke senior attackman Justin Guterding is the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year, and Notre Dame senior long stick midfielder John Sexton is this year’s Defensive Player of the Year. Virginia freshman midfielder Matt Moore was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, while Syracuse’s John Desko is the ACC Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season.

• Guterding and Sexton are both three-time All-ACC selections. Guterding was named the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2015.

•  Duke’s Justin Guterding leads the league in points (87) and goals (51) and ranks second in assists (36). His goals and points total also are tops nationally. The Garden City, New York, native earned five ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, and owns nine hat tricks, two games with six goals, eight outings with at least five points and six with three-plus assists. Guterding is one of 13 players in NCAA Division I history to record 300 career points (currently 325) and is 29 points away from surpassing Matt Danowski’s career record of 353.

• Three from the ACC, Duke’s Justin Guterding and Cade van Raaphorst and Virginia’s Michael Kraus, are among the 17 on the USILA Division I Player of the Year Watch list.

• The ACC had seven players selected in the 2018 MLL Collegiate Draft. Duke’s Guterding was the highest ACC player picked at No. 9 by Ohio.

• Four from the ACC are nominees for the Tewaaraton Award. ACC student-athletes have won the Tewaaraton Award five times. Past winners include Virginia’s Chris Rotelli in 2003, Virginia’s Matt Ward in 2006, Duke’s Matt Danowski in 2007, Duke’s Ned Crotty in 2010, and Virginia’s Steele Stanwick in 2011. Syracuse has had an additional three players win the award.
                                                                                          
• ACC teams combine for a 33-13 record against non-conference competition and seven wins over ranked non-ACC foes.

ACC Coaching 
•    John Danowski owns the most wins of any active coach (395), followed by Kevin Corrigan (4. 303), John Desko (5. 243), Joe Breschi (10. 201), and Lars Tiffany (T16. 133).    

•    Entering the 2018 season, all five ACC men’s lacrosse coaches ranked in the top 12 of winningest active Division I head coaches (by percentage) - 1. Syracuse’s John Desko (.761), 7. Duke’s John Danowski (.668), 9. Notre Dame’s Kevin Corrigan (.666), 11. North Carolina’s Joe Breschi (.636) and 13. Virginia’s Lars Tiffany (.614).
