GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College senior forward Simon Enstrom and Wake Forest sophomore midfielder Omir Fernandez have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Notre Dame senior defender Felicien Dumas is this week’s ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Fernandez totaled six points on three goals to keep top-ranked Wake Forest undefeated. The midfielder from the Bronx scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, in a 3-0 win over No. 8/7 NC State on Friday in both teams’ ACC opener. He got the Demon Deacons on the board in the 24th minute and again at the 68:44 mark. Fernandez also tallied a goal in Wake Forest’s 4-1 win over Presbyterian earlier last week.
Enstrom played a critical role in Boston College’s dramatic 3-2 win over RV/17 Clemson to open ACC play as he scored two goals and assisted another in the victory. The Huddinge, Sweden native found Callum Johnson for the first goal of the game before scoring twice in the 71st and 89th minutes to give BC its first win over the Tigers since 2009.
Dumas posted a team-high three points on a goal and an assist in Notre Dame's win at Syracuse on Friday. The senior scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal off a stunning free kick in the 76th minute. He also assisted the Irish’s first goal delivering a corner kick to Patrick Berneski for the score.
ACC men’s soccer teams will play non-conference matches on Monday and Tuesday before another slate of ACC matches on Friday.
