GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami’s Zorry Mason has been named the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and teammate Mia Vallée has been selected as the Diver of the Week. Pitt’s Blaise Vera has been tabbed the Men’s Swimmer of the Week.
 
A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Mason won the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley during the opening weekend of competition. Swimming against Florida, which finished last year in the top 10, and FIU in separate meets, the sophomore Hurricane finished in the top two in six total races.
 
Vallée placed in the top three in all four of her diving competitions, winning two. The freshman from Quebec, Canada, placed third on the 1-meter and second on the 3-meter boards against Florida before winning both events in the meet against FIU.
 
Swimming against Carnegie Mellon, Vera recorded four top-two finishes as part of relay teams in Pitt’s season opener. Hailing from Clinton, Mississippi, the junior’s meet was highlighted by his first-place 200 medley relay team, which included Luke Smutny, Eben Vorster and Samy Helmbacher.
