GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia senior attacker Avery Shoemaker has been named Atlantic Coast Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Boston College goalkeeper Abbey Ngai was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Shoemaker led Virginia with 10 points in two wins over ranked opponents last week. She averaged 3.5 goals per game and 5.0 with a .529 shot on goal percentage. She was three-for-three on free position shots against No. 7 James Madison in a 14-9 victory, scoring five goals on six shots. Shoemaker added four points against 13th-ranked Duke, including a goal and an assist in the 10-1 run to start the game.
Ngai lead a defensive effort that held No. 3 North Carolina to its lowest-scoring game of the season in a 14-8 Boston College victory. She faced 24 shots and made nine saves against the Tar Heels in 60 minutes of action.
