GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Regular-season co-champion Notre Dame placed four players on the 2018-19 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Teams, which were selected by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel and the conference’s 15 head coaches.
Arike Ogunbowale, Jessica Shepard, represent the top-seeded Fighting Irish on both the Blue Ribbon Panel and Coaches All-ACC first teams. Marina Mabrey and Jackie Young represent Notre Dame on the Blue Ribbon Panel second team, while Young and Brianna Turner earned spots on the coaches second team.
Miami placed Emese Hof and Beatrice Mompremier on both first teams. Taylor Emery of Virginia Tech earned a spot on the Blue Ribbon Panel’s first team and the coaches second team, while fellow Hokie Regan Magarity was selected to both second teams.
Regular season co-champion and No. 2 seed Louisville placed Asia Durr on both first teams. Paris Kea of North Carolina, Kiara Leslie of NC State and Tiana Mangakahia of Syracuse all earned spots on both first teams.
Duke’s Haley Gorecki, a junior, was named to the ACC coaches first team, and the Blue Ribbon Panel’s second team. Clemson’s Kobi Thornton was named to the Blue Ribbon Panel’s second team, and Janelle Bailey of North Carolina earned a spot on the coaches second team.
Both the Blue Ribbon Panel and Coaches All-ACC Freshman Teams feature Boston College’s Makayla Dickens, Duke’s Miela Goodchild, Florida State’s Valencia Myers, Georgia Tech’s Elizabeth Balogun and Elizabeth Dixon, NC State’s Elissa Cunane, Syracuse’s Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi and Virginia Tech’s Dara Mabrey.
The Coaches also selected the 2018-19 ACC All-Defensive Team which features Clemson’s Danielle Edwards and Simone Westbrook, Miami’s Hof, NC State’s Leslie and Notre Dame’s Turner.
The ACC Player, Rookie, Coach, Defensive Player and Sixth Player of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, March 6.
The 42nd annual ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will be played this Wednesday (March 6) through Sunday (March 10).The tournament will feature all 15 ACC teams and 14 games, beginning with three first-round matchups on Wednesday. Four second-round games are scheduled for Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals on Friday, the semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday at noon.
