GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Several Atlantic Coast Conference football players are expected to hear their name called at the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville, Tennessee, April 25-27.
For the first time ever, ABC is set to broadcast all three days of the draft, including two nights of primetime coverage, in a simulcast with NFL Network and ESPN. Online coverage will be LIVE at
NFL.com/Watch. The first round will be held Thursday evening beginning at 8 p.m. ET with rounds two and three on Friday night, starting at 7 p.m. Rounds four through seven will be conducted Saturday afternoon with coverage beginning at noon.
ACC NFL Draft Notes
- During the past five years, the ACC has had a total of 203 players chosen in the NFL Draft, the second-highest total of any conference.
- The ACC has had 42 or more players drafted in four of the of the last five years, one of only two conferences to have done so. Its total of 45 draftees in 2018 was its third-highest ever.
- Since the 2005 season, the ACC has had 515 players chosen in the NFL Draft, including 73 first-round picks, the second highest totals of any conference.
- Since the 2006 NFL Draft, the ACC has had 30 defensive ends or outside linebackers selected in the first two rounds, the most of any conference in the nation during that time, outdistancing the SEC (27), Big Ten (23), Pac-12 (16), Big 12 (7) and the American (previously the Big East) (7).
- NC State’s Bradley Chubb was the first of a school-record seven Wolfpack players chosen in the 2018 NFL Draft. Chubb was the first ACC player and second defensive player chosen when he was tabbed the fifth overall first-round pick by the Denver Broncos. All four starters of NC State’s defensive line were selected by the 128th pick of the draft in the fourth round.
- Miami has had at least one player selected in every NFL Draft since 1974, a string of 44 consecutive years, the longest current streak in the ACC. The next longest streak belongs to Florida State, who has had at least one player chosen in every NFL Draft beginning in 1984, a span of 35 straight years. Virginia Tech also has a streak of 25 years with at least one player picked.
- Current ACC teams have had a total of nine players chosen as the first overall selection in the NFL Draft. The most recent was Florida State’s Jameis Winston, who was tabbed first in 2015 by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Miami (Vinny Testaverde, 1987, Tampa Bay; and Russell Maryland, 1991, Dallas) and Virginia Tech (Bruce Smith, 1985, Buffalo; and Michael Vick, 2001, Atlanta) each had two top selections while Florida State (Jameis Winston, 2015, Bucs), NC State (Mario Williams, 2006, Texans), Virginia (Bill Dudley, 1942, Steelers) and Syracuse (Ernie Davis, 1962, Redskins) each had one. Also, NC State’s Roman Gabriel, the No. 2 overall selection in the 1962 draft, was chosen No. 1 in the AFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders.
- Miami and Florida State have had 11 players taken as the seventh overall pick or higher in the NFL Draft. North Carolina and NC State are tied for third with six, followed by Virginia with four players tabbed seventh or better. Miami has had seven players taken as the first, second or third overall pick.
