Greensboro Coliseum, ACC to Host 2023 NCAA First and Second Round Games

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The NCAA announced Wednesday that Greensboro Coliseum will serve as a host site for the first and second rounds of the 2023 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. The Atlantic Coast Conference will be the host for the event.
 
Greensboro Coliseum will be a host site for the 14th time. Greensboro was scheduled to host the first and second rounds of the 2020 NCAA Tournament before the season was canceled in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
“We appreciate the NCAA awarding the Atlantic Coast Conference and Greensboro Coliseum the 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “The partnership between the ACC and the city of Greensboro has spanned more than six decades and continues to be exceptional. The 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds being played in the Greensboro Coliseum joins the previously announced 2021-23 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional and 2023 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament and gives fans even more reason to celebrate as we look ahead with anticipation of postseason college basketball.”
 
Greensboro Coliseum has hosted 63 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament games all-time, fifth most of any facility. The city of Greensboro’s total of 63 NCAA Tournament games is the 11th most of any city in the nation. Greensboro Coliseum lasted hosted the first and second rounds in 2012. The Coliseum also hosted tournament games in 1974 (Final Four), 1976, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1992, 1998, 2001, 2006 and 2009.
