Growney, Goldstock Earn ACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina junior midfielder Scottie Rose Growney has been tabbed the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Syracuse senior goalkeeper Asa Goldstock earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels.

Growney scored a career-high six goals in North Carolina’s 19-6 win over No. 3 Maryland on Saturday, surpassing her previous best of four, set against Florida on May 12, 2019. Her six points were also a career high, besting her previous mark of four, set on two occasions. Her six goals were the most scored by a Tar Heel against the Terrapins since Erin McGinnis (1996-99) had six in a 19-17 overtime loss on April 24, 1999. Growney was instrumental in UNC scoring its most goals and registering its largest margin of victory in 41 all-time games against Maryland.

Goldstock limited Northwestern to 11 goals in Syracuse’s 16-11 triumph at No. 6 Northwestern. The native of Niskayuna, New York, recorded eight saves against the potent Northwestern attack, which entered the game as the top-scoring offense in the nation, averaging 24.25 goals per game.
