Gray, Porter Pick Up ACC Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina junior attackman Chris Gray notched ACC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week laurels for the second time this season, while Syracuse senior goalie Drake Porter earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

A native of Wading River, N.Y., Gray piled up a career-high eight goals Saturday in a 17-10 victory at No. 15 Johns Hopkins. His eight goals on Saturday doubled his goal total for the 2020 season. He also recorded an assist to finish with nine points on the day. He contributed to three of the Tar Heels’ EMO points (2g, 1a) against Hopkins.

Porter made the most saves by a Syracuse goalie since 2010, making a career-best 18 saves, in a 9-7 comeback win over No. 7 Army. The native of Aurora, Ontario, made 10 stops in the first half, where Syracuse trailed by as many as four goals, to allow the Orange to get back in it.

There are seven ACC men’s lacrosse games this week, beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday as No. 8 Virginia entertains High Point, with the contest airing on ESPNU. Weekend play starts Friday with a doubleheader airing on ACC Network, with No. 13 Duke hosting No. 20 Richmond at 5 p.m. and No. 3 Syracuse welcoming Hobart at 7 p.m.
