ACC Announces Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The following student-athletes have been selected as Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week for Jan. 27.
 
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Erin Marsh, Duke, Sr., Buford, Ga.
Competing in her first pentathlon since winning the gold medal at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships. Marsh posted a nation-leading score of 4,185 at last weekend’s Hokie Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech. Marsh placed 404 points ahead of the second-place competitor. Her effort included a PR high jump of 1.79m (5-10.5) that currently ranks eighth nationally and stands third all-time at Duke. Marsh is of two student-athletes currently with top-50 NCAA marks in the women’s 60m hurdles, high jump and long jump (Tyra Gittens, Texas A&M).
 
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Micah Oberhausen, Louisville, Jr.; Jeffersonville, Ind.
Oberhausen posted a personal-best mark of 5,248 in heptathlon competition at the Hokie Invitational. The score currently ranks third nationally. The Jeffersonville, Indiana, native won the opening event of the heptathlon with a time of 7.04 in the 60m dash. He followed with a personal best leap of 7.21m (23-8), good for second place in the long jump. Oberhausen finished atop the heptathlon shot put standings with a mark of 14.30m (46-11) and logged another personal best, clearing 1.87m (6-1.5) to finish sixth in the high jump. He stands eighth on Louisville’s all-time list for heptathlon performances.
 
Women’s Co-Track Performer of the Week
Laurie Barton, Clemson, Sr.; Clemson, S.C.
Barton set a Clemson school record with her nation-leading time of 2:42.51 in the women’s 1K at the Hokie Invitational. Barton topped the former Clemson school record of 2:43.03 held by Natoya Goule (2015). Barton’s time ties for the 12th fastest 1K collegiate performance of all time and ties for the 11th-fastest all time in NCAA Division I. It ranks as the third-fastest in ACC history. In addition to ranking first nationally in the women’s 1k, Barton also holds the current second-fastest 800 meters time (2:05.10).
 
Women’s Co-Track Performer of the Week
Nicole Fegans, Georgia Tech, Sr.; Douglasville, Ga.
With her time of 16:06.50 at last weekend’s Carolina Challenge, Fegans broke the Georgia Tech women’s indoor school 5K record by nearly six full seconds and currently ranks third nationally. Her 5K time was nearly ten full seconds faster than her previous personal best of 16:16.28. During the final lap, Fegans clocked in at just 33.73 seconds, the fastest mark in the 25th lap for the entire field. This is the third individual, and fourth overall, school record for Fegans who holds the indoor mile, indoor 3K and indoor 5K mars, as well as contributing to the current outdoor 4x1500 school record.
 
Men’s Track Performers of the Week
Virginia Tech 4x400 Relay - Patrick Forrest, Tyreke Sapp, Miles Green, & Jacory Patterson
With a winning time of 3:08.96 at the Hokie Invitational, host Virginia Tech recorded the fastest time in the ACC season and currently ranks eighth in the NCAA. Additionally, the relay was just 1.88 seconds off the Rector Field House facility record set in 1999 by Baylor.
