Feitosa, Quinton, Russo Earn ACC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame sophomore forward Daniel Russo and Pitt freshman midfielder Guilherme Feitosa have been named ACC Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Fighting Irish senior defender Philip Quinton notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels.

Russo scored in both wins for the Irish last week, headlined by a 2-0 road victory over No. 9 Clemson and a 4-0 midweek win over Purdue Fort Wayne. Russo's goal against Clemson proved to be the match winner on Saturday night, finding the back of the net off a corner in the 64th minute. The victory against the Tigers marked just the second road win by a Clemson opponent in their last 33 matches at Riggs Field. Russo has been instrumental in Notre Dame's current four-match win streak.

Feitosa recorded five points in Pitt's two victories last week, including a 4-0 win against Cleveland State and a 3-2 victory versus No. 3 Duke. He scored the game-winner against the Vikings and tallied three assists in Friday’s win against the Blue Devils, which is the second most for a single game at Pitt. Feitosa now has seven points in his last three games played.

Quinton anchored the Notre Dame backline in two clean sheets this past week, with the wins over Purdue Fort Wayne and Clemson. He scored a goal in the win over the Mastodons, his second of the season, and helped the Fighting Irish limit Purdue Fort Wayne to just two shots on goal. In Friday’s shutout of the Tigers, Quinton directed the Notre Dame defense that shut out Clemson for only the second time this year.

Five ACC teams are in non-league action in midweek matches Tuesday. Conference play continues this weekend with four matches Friday and two Saturday. Four ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll: Virginia Tech (5), Pitt (7), Duke (9) and Clemson (23).
