Five Earn ACC Weekly Indoor Track & Field Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – A new league record-holder and three student-athletes who currently lead the nation in their respective events highlight the first Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week of the 2021-22 season.
 
ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Katelyn Tuohy, NC State, So., Stony Point, N.Y.
Tuohy wasted no time taking down records in the indoor season. Competing at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in the 3000m, Tuohy set American U20, ACC, program and personal records with her time of 8:54.18 that ranks 13th in U.S. collegiate history. The sophomore’s time brought down the NC State school record by more than six seconds and improved the American U20 record by more than four seconds. Her PR improved by close to 25 seconds, and she checked in more than five seconds ahead of the first-place time at the 3000m 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Cameron Rose, Clemson, Fr., Harrisburg, N.C.
Making his debut as a Tiger, Rose placed first in the 300 meters at the Clemson Opener with his time of 32.9 that currently ranks No. 1 nationally. It is the 11th-fastest NCAA 300m time ever according to USTFCCCA records and placed less than seven-tenths of a second off the record time.
 
ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Felix Wolter, Pitt, Gr., Munich, Germany
Wolter opened his indoor campaign with a huge personal record leap to collect the victory in the long jump at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. Wolter posted a mark of 25-4.75 (7.74m) to claim the title. His jump marked the second-best in Pitt program history and currently leads the NCAA.
 
ACC Women’s Co-Field Performer of the Week
Alonie Sutton, Florida State, Sr., Smiths Station, Ala.
Sutton’s triple jump of 42-2.25 (12.86m) at the Clemson Opener currently ranks second in the nation and leads the ACC. Sutton also completed in the long jump and delivered a mark of 19-4.75 (5.91m) that stands as the nation’s 18th best and ranks third in the ACC.
 
ACC Women’s Co-Field Performer of the Week
Rachel Tanczos, Notre Dame, Sr., Danielsville, Pa.
After earning a weight throw silver medal in last spring’s NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Tanczos showed she remains one of the nation’s best with a winning throw of 70-7.25 (21.52m) in last weekend’s Blue & Gold Invitational. She currently ranks first nationally.
