Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Isaac Grimes, Florida State, Sr.; Moreno Valley, Calif.
Grimes earned his third ACC weekly honor of the 2021 indoor season after setting an ACC long jump record of 8.33m (27-4) while claiming the gold medal at last weekend’s Tyson Invitational. Grimes’ jump stands as the longest in the world this year and the fifth-longest in collegiate history. Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Jacory Patterson, Virginia Tech, Jr.; Columbia, S.C.
Patterson set the all-time ACC record in the 400m with his time of 45.24 at the Tiger Paw Invite, improving the Virginia Tech record he set at the 2019 NCAA East Regional. His time, which ranks third in the nation and fourth in the world this season, bettered the previous ACC mark of 45.44 set by Duke’s Steven Solomon in 2018 on the same Clemson track. Patterson also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay and posted a split of 45.129, second fastest in the event. The Hokies’ team time of 3:07.64 ranks first in the ACC this season and set an all-time Virginia Tech record.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Maudie Skyring, Florida State, Sr.; Wollongong, Australia
Skyring anchored Florida State’s DMR team at the Tyson Invitational with a final leg of 4:32 as the Seminoles posted an overall time of 10:57.24. The mark was a shade faster than the previous school record time of 10:57.41 set at the 2013 ACC Indoor Championships and currently ranks third nationally. Skyring returned the next day to post a mile time of 4:34.98 that currently stands sixth in the nation.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Ruta Lasmane, Florida State, Fr.; Ventspils, Latvia
Lasmane continued her season-long trend of personal bests in the triple jump, delivering a mark of 13.83m (45-4.5) at the Tyson Invitational that currently ranks second in the nation and second all-time in FSU annals behind former All-American and Olympian Kim Williams. A three-time ACC Performer of the Week, Lasmane has taken the gold medal in every triple jump in which she has competed this season.
