• Four ACC teams are included among the top 25 of the latest USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field women’s rankings, led by No. 11 Florida State. The Seminoles are followed by No. 15 Clemson, No. 22 Miami and No. 23 Duke.
• Florida State moved up to No. 5 in this week’s USTFCCCA men’s rankings and is joined among ACC teams by Syracuse at No. 25.
• Among men’s teams, Florida State owns two nation-leading marks and three others among the national top five. Trey Cunningham and Isaac Grimes headline the 60-meter hurdles (7.64) and long jump (8.18m/26-10), while Kasaun James and Don’drea Swint both sit top-5 in the 60-meter dash at No. 2 (6.57) and No. 4 (6.63), respectively. Jeremiah Davis ranks second to Grimes on the descending order list in the long jump at 7.99m (26-2.25).
• Other ACC men who currently hold national No. 1 times in their respective events include the Virginia Tech trio of Jacory Patterson (32.61 in the 300 meters), Patrick Forrest (1:02.79 in the 500 meters) and Bashir Mosavel-Lo (2:22.81 in the 1,000 meters).
• With her time of 2:42.51 in the 1,000 meters. Clemson senior Laurie Barton continues to rank number one nationally among female Division I runners. Five ACC women -- NC State’s Elly Henes (3K) and Hannah Steelman (5K), Florida State’s Ruta Lasmane (triple jump), Louisville’s Makenli Forrest (pictured above in the weight throw) and Duke’s Erin Marsh (pentathlon) -- currently rank third nationally in their respective events.
• The beginning of the stretch run through the final three weekends of the regular season includes the Doc Hale Elite Meet this Friday and Saturday at Virginia Tech, which is slated to include student-athletes from at least eight ACC programs.
