GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four Atlantic Coast Conference wrestlers landed No. 2 seeds Wednesday as the bracket was unveiled for the 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, which will be held March 18-20 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis
The ACC’s 39-wrestler contingent is led by No. 2 seeds Sam Latona of Virginia Tech (125 pounds), Austin O’Connor of North Carolina (149), Hayden Hidlay (157) of NC State and Trent Hidlay of NC State (184).
This marks the second consecutive year that O’Connor and Hayden Hidlay have landed No. 2 NCAA seeds.
A total of 17 ACC wrestlers are ranked among the top 10 in their respective weight classes. That group includes Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore Mekhi Lewis, the 2019 NCAA champion who did not wrestle in this year’s ACC Championship due to injury but is seeded No. 4 at 165, just behind No. 3 Jake Wentzel of Pitt.

The ACC received 33 automatic berths to this year’s NCAA Championship, and six at-large selections pushed the league’s overall representation to 39 wrestlers.
This marks the third year in which all 33 wrestlers in each of the 10 NCAA weight classes are seeded. The 2020 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship will run as a double-elimination tournament, and the top eight finishers in each weight class will earn All-America honors. Wrestlers will also score team points for every win.
Each match will last seven minutes unless ended early by a fall or a tech fall. The tournament will run across six sessions. All individual championship matches will be held during Session 6 on Saturday, March 20.
