Duke’s Ulfarsson, Pitt’s Walti Earn Weekly ACC Men’s Soccer Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke freshman forward Thor Ulfarsson has earned ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week laurels, while Pitt junior midfielder Jackson Walti was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Ulfarsson recorded a hat trick to lead the Blue Devils to a 3-1 victory at Virginia on Sunday. The hat trick was just the third by an ACC player this season, the first by a Blue Devil since Oct. 16, 2015, and gives the Kopavogur, Iceland, native four goals on the year, tying for the team lead. His three goals scored in Charlottesville were the first allowed by the Cavaliers at home this spring and are tied for the most they have allowed in any match this season.

Walti was an instrumental piece in No. 5 Pitt’s 2-1 double-overtime victory at Virginia Tech on Saturday. The Vevey, Switzerland, native played every minute of the 103-minute affair and was key in assisting a back line of defense that allowed just one goal and limited the Hokies to one shot across both overtime periods.

The ACC spring season continues this weekend with the fifth of six straight weekends of league action.
