Louisville’s Camara, Bell Pick Up Weekly ACC Men’s Soccer Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following an upset win Friday in the regular-season finale over No. 3 Clemson, Louisville freshman forward Aboubacar Camara was selected as the final ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the season, while his teammate, senior goalkeeper Detre Bell, earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Camara and Bell are the first men’s soccer weekly honorees from Louisville this season.
 
Camara scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 2-1 Louisville upset victory over No. 3 Clemson on Friday night, finishing on a chance in the 51st minute to give the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage, as they handed Clemson its first loss of the spring. The goal was his fifth in six spring matches and sixth tally of the season. A native of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, Camara leads all ACC players with five goals during the spring season.
 
Bell made a season-best eight saves in Louisville's win over Clemson. The Hamilton, Bermuda, native held the Tigers off the board for 89 minutes until the they converted a penalty kick in the final minute. Bell improved to 4-2-0 as the Louisville keeper during the spring season.
 
The spring portion of the ACC season concludes Saturday with the conference’s NCAA automatic qualifier game, featuring top-ranked Pitt playing at third-ranked Clemson at 7 p.m. on ACC Network. Pitt won the Coastal Division crown while Clemson captured the Atlantic Division title as well as the 2020 ACC Championship in the fall. The winner of the match earns the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The selection show for the tournament is Monday, April 19.
