GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Boston College sophomore forward Linda Boama has been named ACC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while North Carolina senior goalkeeper Claudia Dickey has been tabbed ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Boama helped lead the Eagles to a perfect 3-0 week, highlighted by scoring a goal in each game. In Monday’s 3-1 win against UMass, she scored the first goal of the contest and tallied the assist on the game winner. On Thursday, Boama netted the game-winning goal as Boston College defeated Boston University, 3-1.
The Reykjavik, Iceland, native wrapped up the week on Sunday with a goal and an assist as BC turned away UConn, 4-1. Boama ended the week with three goals, two assists and eight points. She leads the conference and is tied for second nationally with five goals this season.
Dickey logged a pair of stellar outings to lead second-ranked North Carolina to a pair of road wins against Big Ten opponents, Illinois and Ohio State. She faced 23 shots with 10 saves and only one goal allowed in 180 minutes of action in the net last week.
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Dickey tallied a career-high nine saves in a shutout against the Buckeyes. That mark stands as the most by an ACC goalkeeper this season.
ACC women’s soccer action returns Thursday afternoon with all 14 of the league’s teams in action, highlighted by fifth-ranked Duke hosting No. 13 Stanford at 7 p.m. and six matches airing on ACC Network Extra.
